In This Now Moment

About this practice— In This Now Moment is a one-hour, oral movement practice with Mother Mother that invites us to consider where gravity, weight, and density have gathered in the body. Through a series of gentle prompts, dancers discover a softening and a lightening of energies. In This Now Moment is an expansion born from an acorn sermon, The Maginitude of Now. Mother Mother first heard the language “in this now moment” from her dear sistermama and spiritual midwife, Amber RainMa.
In This Now Moment begins with an introduction to the practice, followed by a 6-part progressive movement invitation. Follow along with Mother Mother, or stop and start and be with each part of the process for as long as you need to. Once you feel warm and familiar with the sequence of the practice, play around with the speed and rhythms that feel most authentic to you. Try the practice in silence, or with your own music, or outside with the sounds of nature. Experiment with doing the whole journey in a 15-minute dance practice. Or witness the many layers of transformation when you slow everything down, spreading each part over a day, or a week, or a month.
However your moments look and feel, the dance is full of possibilities. In This Now Moment is especially generative for artists and creators who might be feeling stuck, or dry, or uninspired with the way their creations are evolving. Everything we create begins inside our bodies, and In This Now Moment is an opportunity to feel into the bounty of ourselves. We are invited to live consciously from the energy and vibrancy we can access from within, and to celebrate the beauty that emerges from that holy place each time. Enjoy the dance!
