Regenerating Love & Sistership Through Liberated Technologies

A Tech Dreams Lab | Practice Map

friday | 25 february 2022 | 4pm Est

Mother Mother facilitates an adventure into the ways love inspires creative, radical, and liberated applications of technology. Creators bring their stories and curiosities about technology and how they are navigating the possibilities. Mother Mother holds the space for more questions, idea-sharing, and expansions on discoveries made during Tech Dreams Week.

Our practice will center these inquiries:

  • What are your questions about how technology supports our sistership and life in the Garden?

  • What technology discoveries are you navigating in your creation labors?

  • How can technology enhance our capacity to nurture loving relationships and connections across time and space?

  • What else might be possible in the way that we create and commune that we have yet to think of?

  • How can we intentionally foster technological spaces that are rooted in freedom and autonomy?

this soils lab includes these elements:

Workshop in development/experimental practice
Story sharing circle/dialogue circle
Idea mapping/dreamscaping/visioning

Mother Mother recommends communing inside Ringshout: A Sonic Healing, a talk with sound artists Mendi + Keith Obadike and systems engineer Nzinga Tull about their collaboration in creating and producing Ringshout. Ringshout is a musical satellite that will orbit the Earth while airing an afrofutrist musical-story score out into space! In this dialogue the collaborators share stories of how they dreamed this radical dream up, the influences of Octavia Butler’s writing, and the ancient cosmologies of African peoples. This talk is a part of a series of events happening during the Afrofuturism Festival at Carnegie Hall.

The Tech Dreams Portal is accessible to all creators in the Garden. Guests of the Garden who want to explore a bit of our practices are invited to register for one-week access to the Tech Dreams Portal.

about our tech dreams portal

The Tech Dreams Portal is where we discover the depths and possibilities of the many technologies that source and sustain our sistership and the magic of our virtual congregation. How do we live together as a congregation of creators, even though we're all in different spaces? How do we cultivate virtual intimacy and amplify the reach of our practices on and off the screen? These explorations and more will be a part of explorations in the Tech Dreams Portal.

The Tech Dreams Portal was birthed inside our inaugural Tech Dreams Week, February 22-26, 2022. Much of what we are generating as a sistership is being archived so that we can continue to be nourished by our own brilliance, and generate resources for ourselves, our families, and the world we labor to make a sweeter, more joyful place for all.

attending tech dreams lab

Tech Dreams Labs are collaborative-time (live), virtual gatherings open to all creators in the Garden. If you are a creator in the Sanctuary, reach out to Mother Mother and request access to the lab. If you are a guest of the Garden during a Tech Dreams Lab you will be sent a link to access the lab. To honor and protect the intimacy of our sharing, Tech Dreams Labs are not recorded. We are a Come As You Are congregation and you are welcome to attend as much or as little of the lab as you like. Please visit the Fertility Abundance Garden Welcome Center to learn more about the Garden or to join.

ABOUT SOFT-TIME

The Garden thrives in soft-time expansions. While the Soils Lab is a collaborative-time gathering, we consciously create multiple points of engagement for all creators to participate in the majesty of our explorations and experiments, whether or not you attend the lab. In addition to the practice maps, our Soils Labs are archived in multiple places inside the Creators Portal and the Creators Shared Diary. We also extend conversations and discovery opportunities in the Creators Channel and Fertile Majesties groups. Mattering soft-time practice spaces is a vital way that we disrupt mandates of capitalism, and continue to decentralize fixed-time and cumpulsory-time standards as universally legitimate and relevant. In making space for the diversity of our life rhythms and labors, we take great care to develop generative, nourishing methodologies that honor the fluid nature of our lives as creators.
